1LUV is a film by KVPA and Leo Kawabe. The two Brazilian directors were in Los Angeles in met incredible people who introduced them to Inglewood, a neighborhood with strong Jamaican roots. The spontaneous images depict a common Sunday in this community, full of life and hope contrasted by daily structural racism and banalized state repression. The project also has an online platform so that, at the end of the film, the viewer can respond to the provocation left by James Baldwin: "I want exactly what you want. And you know what you want."

1LUV
A latin contribution to the black fight

This is all about empathy.
Feeling like a foreigner in your own country forces your mind to be in a constant state of survival.
Thank you, James Baldwin. Thank you, Maya Angelou.
Your voices keep us grounded, alive and alert.
Not taking steps forward is the same as retreating.
No one stands on the front lines of war alone.
Guns? We have an unending arsenal.
Bullets of poetry, shields of memory.
Ancestral armor.
This is the art of war.
Violent is our respect for everything that is different.
Sacred is your right to be whoever you want to be.
Your wish is sacred!
"One Love” doesn’t mean there’s only one way.
"One Love” means there’s only one answer.

“Love is a war. Love is a battle. Love is a growing up”
James Baldwin
